Is it really that bad to pop zits, pimples, blackheads and other acne?

I always hear that you shouldn't pick your zits b/c it can leave scars and makes your skin worse, but sometimes I just can't resist to pop those that have white heads already formed. This leads me to pick at other acne on my face. I do use Clean%26amp;Clear products but still manage to find gunk in my pores. Is it really that bad to pop zits, pimples, blackheads and other acne?
Yes, it is bad to pop zits, as irresistable as it may be. Just because you don't see the scars immediately, doesn't mean they aren't there - they'll show up if you get a tan and when you get older and your skin ages.

Also, when you are sqeezing stuff out, you're also pushing stuff back down further, which can cause infections or something worse.

It doesn't matter what cleasing products you use, you will always have ';gunk'; in your pores. Everyone does, it's just the nature of our skin. But if you aren't happy with Clean %26amp; Clear, try another brand, such as Aveeno (it seems to be just as effective but not so harsh). Or see a dermatologist - they can give you topical meds or special cleansers (prescription or not) to help you out.

Good luck!Is it really that bad to pop zits, pimples, blackheads and other acne?
ewwwwwww. ..............yes it is very bad! ur exposing urself to other bacteria that can make it worse ask ur parents if u can see a dermatoligist if its really that bad or just use proactive it really works for me anyway
Stop doing that! It's so bad for your skin. Use a face scrub to get ';gunk'; out. If you absolutely must pop your zits use two q-tips dabbed in vinegar, your hands have so much bacteria on them. You can also put an ice cube on the area afterwards to reduce swelling and redness...but, quit!
Honestly I don't think so, only if you do it the right way. Steam your face for a couple minutes, or when you get out of the shower do it then, this way your pores are open and the gunk will come out easier and you wont be left with a scar, or such a huge scar because you don't have to apply so much pressure to steamed skin.
Sometime it leaves scares. But it no all that bad!
No, that's a lie. But the puss from the previous acne get into your other pores and that's how you get more acne. As long as the puss doesn't touch other parts of your skin your fine.

Just don't do it in front of someone. [it doesn't exactly look good to someone who doesn't want to see that stuff]
Have you tried using an exfoliator? I use St. Ives Invigorating apricot scrub. It helps me keep from picking my skin. Also http://www.sephora.com has a lance with an extractor tip. This will only work with some pimples and you have to be careful with it.
same here.
Well I do pop my zits and i don't have scars at all!

but if you do get a scratch from a zit put neosporin on it!

and if you work out a lot or you sweat a lot!

after you workout just wash your face, the sweat comes out of your pores and cleans them out! But if you leave it there they will go back into your pores and that causes more breakouts!

you should try clearisal ultra spot treatment it works really well on me!

and oyu know what they say about makeup hurting your pores?

well its not true if you wash your face you shouldn't just leave it cause it leaves your skin open for dirt and grime! cause the face washes open up your pores and clean them out!

so you should put a mosturizer on after you wash up!
if you can afford microdermabrasion, keep poppin'.
Yes it is bad, but it doesnt show the damage right away. Your hands carry a lot of germs and when you pop those things you leave your wound open to other germs.

Your best bet is to leave it alone or get some products that help with that stuff.
it makes them spread to other places on your face... just try washing your face every morning and every night and maybe that'll get the dirt out of your pores
yeah it leaves marks try pro active
yes, it is bad to pop zits, but there is a tool at CVS, sav-on, walgreens, that allows you to take out your blackheads without leaving scars and other marks. If you do pop your acne do not use your nail because then you will leave a mark or even a scratch.
I am in my 40's and I deplore that you resirt the urge to pick. It does leave scars %26amp; even when you think they aren't, your skin changes as you get older %26amp; marks that were always there but not always visible tend to darken %26amp; become more noticeable %26amp; by then it's too late.
i always pop em, do it slowly and only if it has a white head and about to come out :S i know it sounds gross, but i never leave them alone, and no scar on my face so far, just dont be harsh on them do it slow.. good luck =)
if you pop them, you get bacteria back into the pore which causes.... ta da.. another zit! Also, its way way more likely to scar. I know its hard.. but resist the urge to pop! One way to resist the urge is buying the little round zit treatment pads. They look like bandaids and are about the size of your pinkie nail. If you put those on a whitehead at night or when you are hanging out at home.. you will be less tempted to pick it, and they should make it go away in 3-6 hours.
naw, it's lots of fun, especially if it hits the mirror. But if you get tired of this passtime, try Pro-active.
how about just clean your face or do to a a dermatologist. If you pop them it can leave ugly scars.
I like picking blackheads. I dont think popping blackheads is bad since its dirt
You heard correctly. Picking at acne leaves terrible scars. Not only does it ruin your complexion, but it actually makes the blemish last longer. When Clean%26amp;Clear products just aren't enough, Proactiv and Clearasil Ultra can clear you up fast.
You shouldn't pick or pop anything, not only do you get scarring but you risk infection. You can use all the products on your skin that you'd like but you have to treat acne from the inside first, change that diet and avoid all things artificially red i.e. kool-aid, fake fruit drinks, pop, hot cheetos, etc. increase your water intake. Now for the outer part, get a regular skincare routine and stick to it! Exfoliate once a week, cleanse twice a day, tone and moisturize. If you don't have a doctor (your regular physician can help) then visit a good cosmetic counter such as Clinique or Origins. Kick the pizza to the curb for now. Change pillowcases regularly and wash those hands before you touch your face.
ive heard it can possibly leave scars.
Never pop or squeeze pimples it will only push the pimple deeper into the skin and create an opening for bacteria to get in, it can also cause scarring
